Cinnamon Hill Golf Course

Montego Bay, Jamaica

The 6,637 yard par 71 Cinnamon Hill Golf course started life as the Wyndham Rose Hall Golf course in 1969. It was designed by Hank Smedley ... the first nine on the flat along the ocean, and the second nine meandering up through the hills.
It was redesigned and totally transformed in 2001 by Robert von Hagee and Rick Baril, and was renamed the Three Palms Ocean Course, and then later again renamed Cinnamon Hill Golf Course.

Like all Jamaica's north coast courses the prevailing winds contribute greatly to the difficulty to this course, particularly the holes along the ocean.
The scenery is spectacular and as you wander around the course you pass a tremendous amount of local history ...

  • The Cinnamon Hill Great House which was built in the mid-18th Century by Edward Barrett (the Barretts of Wimpole Street) which became the Jamaican home of Johnny and June Cash
  • The waterfall where a scene from Ian Flemming's James Bond movie "Live and Let Die" was filmed
  • Close to the 4th tee is the family burial plot of the famed English poet Elizabeth (Barret) Browning. She herself was buried in Florence, Italy
  • An aquaduct built in 1761 when the property was a sugar cane plantation
  • And of course you are a not far from Annie Palmer's Rose Hall Great House

When you are planning a Caribbean or Jamaican Golf holiday you will not be disapointed if you include Cinnamon Hill as one of your "must play" courses.
