Constant Spring Golf Club
Kingston, Jamaica

Constant Spring Golf Club opened in 1920. Originally it was only a 9 hole course, but it was expanded to 18 holes in the 1930's.

Nestled in the foothills of Norbrook ... one of Kingston's residential areas ... it is one of the oldest of the Jamaica Golf Courses.

Built on an old sugar plantation it was designed by Stanley Thompson, a well known Scottish Canadian Course Architect, who was a mentor of Robert Trent Jones Snr.

Stanley Thompson was also involved in the design of another Jamaican golf course, the Manchester Club in Mandeville.

The Constant Spring Golf course is a fairly short course, with narrow fairways and relatively small greens.

For Men from the Blue Tees it is only 6094 yds, and from the Whites only 5742 yds.

For Ladies from the Reds it is just 5141 yards.

Trees, gullies, out of bounds fences, well placed bunkers and ponds are there to catch any errant shot.

The 9th hole is a lovely, but tricky short par 3, flanked by ponds which are fed by the Constant Spring.

Constant Spring's signature hole, the 13th, is a short, drivable but narrow par 4.

The tee is high above the green, and you have a spectacular view of a very tight fairway and a small green, with a gully running the entire way along the right of the fairway, and a steep hill with thick rough on the left.

A possible birdie hole that has ruined many a round of golf.

And if you are lucky enough to beat 13th hole, don't rejoice just yet, because the gully is there to catch you on the par 5 14th.

To finish on the 18th you had better keep your ball out of the grounds of the school on the left.

The Constant Spring Golf Club is certainly worth a visit.

Of all the Jamaican Golf courses this is one of my favorites ... and it is a joy to play.

And if you do come to play Constant Spring give yourself time to play the course at the Caymanas Golf and Country Club as well.

There is a thriving social life at the Constant Spring club, and you will be made to feel very welcome.

Our Jamaican hospitality is second to none.
