Natango's Chocolate Cake

Natango's Chocolate Cake

My husband and son love chocolate cake.

I love chocolate bars, but alas not chocolate cake.

Cake mixes are either too dry or too moist so I came up with this.

Hope you will try and enjoy.

Ingreidents

  • 1 cup shortening (substitite 3/4 cup vegetable oil)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspn vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cup unsifted flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 2 teaspn baking soda
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions

  • Cream the first four ingredients in a large bowl
  • Add eggs and beat with mixer till mixture is light and fluffy
  • In a seperate container mix cocoa, soda and hot water
  • Combine all mixtures into one batter, and mix well
  • Pour into two round baking tins, one 9 inches and the other 6 inches
  • Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or test by inserting a skewer which should come out dry
  • Take out of oven, allow to cool for three minutes
  • Take cakes from tins and allow to cool completely on cake racks or plates
  • When completely cool decorate with frosting of choice

Makes two cakes or one layer cake if prefered.

Enjoy
