Making Friends with a Baby Crocodile from the Swamp Safari

I arrived at the Roadshow early to beat the crowds and the rain, and boy was I in for a surprise ... I was not prepared to be wowed off my feet. My son and I visited all the booths, and we made new contacts and exchanged brochures.

The Swamp Safari drew me in with its variety of animals ... crocodiles, Jamaican parrots, Jamaican yellow snakes, Jamaican pond turtles, and rabbits. I was interested in only two things, the snakes and the crocodiles, which I have never touched before. In the short time it took to interact with them I decided that I MUST visit the Swamp Safari, and soon.

At first I held the crocodile with the handler, and as my confidence built I held it on my own. Then came the snake ... it wasn't a big one but it was long. The handler showed me how to hold it without squeezing.

Just this experience alone made visiting today's Roadshow worth it.

One of the Hotels was offering an extra 10% "Experience Jamaica" discount to Jamaicans staying at its hotel, where I would love to spend my birthday or anniversary (hint, hint). This promotion runs until December 14, 2013.

The displays, and persons behind the tables, were informative and welcoming, and as a member of JHTA Montego Bay Chapter I feel renewed hope.

I use this medium to suggest we all inform our families and friends in Jamaica to get to know our island, and vacation locally. Get out and visit our Jamaican attractions, and help us to make a difference.

To the members, employees, supporters and friends of JHTA Montego Bay Chapter, The Jamaica Tourist Board, and the TPDCO ... job well done.

To all supporters of Jamaica at home and overseas we welcome and appreciate you.

Plan to check this out later this week - despite my fear of all things reptilian!

Patricia,
You don't need to worry. I like them no more than you do, but it has always been one of my favorite places to visit.
Chris.

Great promotion JHTA Mo Bay Chapter

I applaud the JHTA for this road show ... promoting Jamaica to Jamaicans ... a huge success.

There are so many unique attractions (small maybe) but operating at five star levels.

Our hotels, tour operators, attractions, people and food are among the best.

This will bring more revenue into the industry.

I own and operate the Ahhh...Ras Natango Gallery and Garden here in Montego Bay and as a result of this show I will now visit the Swamp Safari in Falmouth.

If every person who visited the show chooses one place to visit ... Wow!!!! Un imaginable.

Tamika, definitely pay it a visit you will love it.

Jamaicans do not know what they are missing by not visiting our own attractions.

I used to take ALL my visiting friends there when I was living in Jamaica, from back in the days when Ross Kananga owned it.

He did the scene in Dr No (I think), when James Bond (Roger Moore) ran across the backs of the crocs to escape. Fell in with the crocs (big ones, not like yours) a few times and had quite a few stitches in his leg.
