Sorrel Drink

This is the Jamaican Sorrel Drink that you enjoyed so much.


  • 1 lb fresh sorrel

  • 3/4 lb fresh ginger coarsely grated

  • 2 1/2 cups white sugar

  • 2 cups Rum


  • Add 4 quarts of boiling water to the sorrel and grated ginger

  • Let sit for 24 hours - any longer and it will start to ferment

  • Strain though cheesecloth

  • Add the sugar and the rum and stir until the sugar is disolved

Bottle and keep refridgerated.

I always thiught pimento (allspice) was added for a true Jamaican flavour?
