Unearthing The Diamond

I am a Jamaican author ... I smile at the word author ... I love writing but until July 19, 2016 I was not a published author ... but now I finally am.

Born and raised in Jamaica in the sixties my book takes you on the journey to where I am today.

Many times I have written and rewritten pieces of the book as I found it was not necessary to relive every experience.

Take this journey with me, laugh and cry with me, but please please do not pity me. I have taken off the masks and am in a place of happiness, satisfied with being me.

So many persons, who may think I have lived a charmed life, will have their mouths on the ground on this journey with me.

Seeing me living in "paradise", in this Ahhh...Mazing garden, no one looks past the beauty to even wonder why I live in a garden. There has been so much darkness on the outside, and this has really been an escape. Ahhh was never built as a tourism destination.

I began this garden because my husband choose to buy a bit of rocky hillside in the mountains overlooking Montego Bay. It was virtually uninhabitable when we cleared the bush off of it. In a nutshell, it's become a successful tourism destination.

Back to the book. In 2009 I began writing my life story and decided to publish it as I felt my book would give me a voice and become the voice for so many others . I am not defined by my struggles in fact I am who I am inspite of them.

In April 2016 I met Author Keame McPherson who responded to my public cry on Facebook "Any publishing houses out there?" I mentioned I had done so much to promote the family business and my husbands art and really wanted to focus on me and mentioned that I had written a book. Only one response but that's all it took.

Three months later book edited, and now published, it's currently available online here at Lulu.

In a few weeks it will be on Amazon and other major bookstores.

It will be available in Jamaica for the November launch on Friday November 15 ,2016. More information on this to follow.
